I saw this in Time Magazine at the Doctor’s office yesterday:

The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church.’

THE REV. ALEXIA SALVATIERRA, quoting a 2nd century Christian theologian to explain why activist Elvira Arellano’s Aug. 20 deportation to Tijuana would inspire a renewed fight for immigration reform. Arellano had found sanctuary in a Chicago church for a year in defiance of a deportation order

As a Christian, a minister, and a theologian, I have to say: man that pisses me off.

Bonus Arellano quote:

“Like Jesús, Elvira Arellano was a brown-skinned alien who sparked equal parts rage and praise while promoting their movement.”

The Elvira Arellano show is having a very negative impact on our hopes for just immigration reform. Ms Arellano is being used by political coyotes who see nothing beyond their own selfish agenda. Ms Arellano has been turned into a caricature of exactly the kind of criminal illegal immigrant that many fear in this country, particularly at a time when the Mexican government is losing control of Mexico in what has practically become a civil war between President Calderón and Mr. López Obrador. The use of a minor child as a mule for Arellano’s border “movement” is deeply repugnant. Child welfare authorities should be considering what actions might be taken to protect the interests of this child, who as a U.S. resident and citizen in under the
jurisdiction of the United States. I hope also that reasonable people in America will see this farse for what it is: a vulgar attempt to fish in troubled waters.

Just have to say, I love your website. Nailinmyeye indeed.—-hillbillyjim
